Friends of the Games Lounge
Rio de Janeiro – Brazil – 2016
August 5 – August 21, 2016, 6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Situated in between the world-famous Ipanema and Copacabana beaches at Arpoador Rock, the Friends of the Games Lounge offered a unique and spectacular environment with an incredible view of Ipanema and Leblon, the turquoise waters, flanked by mountains in the background. With its upscale elegance and laid back style, the beach has inspired poets and artists – and us!
The Friends of the Games concept made its first ever appearance at this magnificent scenery, bringing together entrepreneurs, athletes, and great ideas. One was able to share knowledge, discuss best practices, and have stimulating dialogue on how the technology for sports events has changed and what can be expected in future.
The Friends of the Games Lounge was designed to support solution providers, broadcasters, OB companies, decision-makers, media and other professionals involved in the first Games ever held in South America. Here, fantastic events and rare behind-the-scenes insights were accompanied by high-class catering.
The Lounge in Rio represented a platform for Marco Balich (Executive Producer Ceremonies) to explain the creative concept behind the ceremonies, for Dylan Liu (Hytera, International Marketing Director) to talk about Hytera’s involvement in the Games – and for SVG to hold their legendary “Rhythms of Rio” reception and SVG Talk. The Lounge also became home to the ‘Japanese and Korean Evening’ and the ‘Games Technology Gathering’ by Creative Technology, and welcomed the rowing and equestrian teams of Switzerland for their press appearances after they had made their home countries proud.
We remember one hell of a storm shaking up the premises one night and the last, beautiful sunset on the beach. Thank you, Rio, for a one-of-a-kind experience! We hope to be back one day.
