Friends of the Games Lounge

PyeongChang – Korea – 2018

February 9 - February 25, 2018, 3:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Right in the center of the Mountain cluster and the Nations Village at the YongPyong Resort in PyeongChang,  Korea, the Friends of the Games Lounge stood out as a small island for friends and partners of the global events business to meet, connect, exchange, relax, celebrate and party.

In light of the icy temperatures outside, the provision of free Wi-Fi was just one bonus for all friends visiting the lounge: hot coffee and incredible catering in a cozy, warm surrounding rife with promising networking opportunities attracted partners and guests from all around the world.

Apart from representing a fantastic meeting point for numerous nameable partners, the Friends of the Games Lounge became a stage for some of the most renowned creative heads in the business. After the great success in Rio 2016, SVG re-enacted their famous TechTalk. Under the slogan ‘Ceremonies – Bigger. Brighter. Bolder. Delivering the world’s largest broadcast event’ Piers Shepperd took us on an eye-opening journey into his world.

The FOG team also was incredibly proud to welcome Annika Strandhäll, Swedish Minister for Sports, and Per Palmström, Vice President of the Swedish National Olympic Committee, who joined the premises to share their stories with our valued guests.  Three days prior closing, an exclusive ‘Sports Presentation Night’ was held by the Sports Presentation Producers and their venue teams to celebrate their contribution to the Games, which turned out to be another great success for everybody involved.

During the 14 days the Lounge had become an esteemed and cherished place for all kinds of extraordinary events and conversations. We remember celebrating all teams’ achievements, Valentine’s Day, Pat Burgener and his musical talent and most of all unity, equality and friendship. Thank you, PyeongChang!
